Who benefits from voice therapy, gender-affirming voice work, and singing voice lessons?

Voice therapy is for people experiencing changes or challenges with their speaking or singing voice — such as vocal fatigue, strain, tension, changes in voice quality, reduced stamina, or a voice that no longer feels consistent or reliable. It is often sought when something feels “off,” during recovery, or to prevent injury and support long-term vocal health.

Singing voice lessons are for singers who are not injured (or who have recovered from injury) but want to develop technique, strength, coordination, agility, and sustainable vocal use for performance and artistic goals.

Gender-affirming voice work (sometimes called gender-affirming voice therapy or gender-aligning voice work) is a set of therapeutic practices that help a person shape their voice and communication style so it feels aligned with their gender identity; not to meet a stereotype, but to feel authentic, safe, and confident.

Medical Billing Services and Insurance

For residents of New York State only:

Speaking voice therapy, singing voice therapy, and gender-affirming voice clients have the option to send their sessions to their insurance using a “superbill”. A superbill is an invoice that does not guarantee coverage, but does provide the possibility of your insurance covering your medical services. Lotus Voice Studio does not currently partner with any insurance, and therefore all sessions are paid out-of-pocket up front. Superbills are only created upon request.

However, for New York resident clients needing or wanting speaking voice rehabilitation through insurance, Brittani accepts all Manhattan insurances through Speech Matters. You must first have a scope completed by a laryngologist (voice ENT) or general ENT.

Testimonials

  • "I’ve been working with Brittani and she’s been really awesome! - Encouraging - Willingness to listen - Always leaves me feeling like I have more talent after every lesson - Can go deeply theoretical or just stay on the practical side of things! The studio is also ran efficiently and is well structured. There are many other things to say, but the jist is — it’s an awesome studio!"

    Garett Roberts

  • "Brittani is an amazing voice coach who takes her student’s goals and aspirations very seriously. Her knowledge of both vocal performance and speech pathology make for an incredibly educational experience for the student on both aspects of the singing and speaking voice, and how each impact the other. I especially appreciate how Brittani uses her depth of knowledge to make vocal lessons well rounded in terms of teaching technique regarding the the anatomy of the body, breath, and voice itself to make sure your singing voice is the best it can be. She takes extra time to explain how your voice works, what can impact it, and what you can do outside of singing to achieve your goals. And her lessons are always fun :) Brittani is a down to earth person who is fun to work with!"

    Hannah Duckworth

  • "I had about 15 sessions of singing/voice lessons with Brittani. Now, I am not the kind of person who usually takes singing classes. However, after my research and finding Brittani, I decided to give it a shot. She was amazing in making me comfortable, push me when needed, be communicative and care about my progress. I wish she didn’t move to NY from Seattle so I could have continued in person classes with her. She is 10 out of 10!!"

    Raven

  • "There are absolutely no words to adequately describe how amazing working with Brittani is but I'll try. Shutting myself out of my voice over a decade ago (without knowing what was wrong) and telling myself "no you'll never do that again" was hard. When I found Brittani she showed me that it didn't have to be like that. I came to Brittani nearly a year ago with absolutely zero confidence in my voice. I was scared. But, she helped me rehabilitate my voice, taught me how to use, and take care of it. She changed my life in the best way possible! I never knew I could have something so powerful and precious. Im forever grateful for what she has given me. Honestly you should just go see her. You wont regret it."

At Lotus Voice Studio, our approach to voice therapy and singing voice training is grounded in evidence-based practice, collaborative care, and sustainable vocal health for clients in NYC and online.

The lotus has been a symbol of rebirth and perseverance for thousands of years. The flower is native to muddy waters, yet emerges perfectly. The lotus serves as a symbol for this voice studio to inspire the students to persevere through the struggles of the creative process and our judgmental minds. Becoming a musician is not an easy journey, but it is one that will bring great joy and help build self-esteem.
We strive to help our students find their true voice, in the literal and figurative sense of that phrase. By helping our students listen to their bodies and find a love of the process, a safe environment is cultivated in which creativity can flourish.
